Connection and Content Distribution

Happy Tuesday Marketing Must Readers!
The last week has been full of the same stories in the marketing and growth bubbles. Hopefully, this week will break through with different stories, here's a newsletter full of interesting and actionable must reads.
The theme of this week in the Marketing Must Reads newsletter is: all about audience development and knowing how to connect with your audience. Connection and content distribution have always been essential but in the noisey feeds-filled worlds cutting through and connecting has to be creative (and hint: not always tracked).
Must Read Articles
Gaming Music Releases π§ - Artists have to get themselves in the best possible place to launch music and very often it is not just on streaming platforms or testing out music on the radio in a live set or at a concert, now it comes in many shapes and sizes and in gaming launches are becoming a real option (Ed Sheeran with Pokemon is another example). Meghan Trainor has a huge fan base and platform but selected great distribution via mobile game candy crush. Expect this trend to continue and be inspired by how these artists are leveraging specific channels not spray and pray like most nowadays.
Meta Vs Apple Round 6 π° - Zuck vs Cook is always an interesting battle not only because it costs businesses money and changes the advertising and marketing landscape every few months but because it is Meta (Facebook) struggling to influence iMessage and where sharing happens which meta just can't get enough insight into, alongside losing targeting abilities for Facebook products
Anytime Anywhere Generation π± - Tracking is a double-edged sword for marketers, being able to track now is a given, however, when we can't it becomes an issue quickly. Remember in years gone by, tracking never existed and campaigns were successful. At some point in the near future we will see more discussion around tracking success to the last click or we may have to embrace privacy first marketing and celebrating wins when we have no visibility of what drove the success.
Ukraine's Approach To Social Media πΊπ¦ - This is an interesting article from the BBC on how Ukraine has embraced social media and targeted different audiences in smart ways (mostly humour). This approach is how some brands and new media brands approach social as a branded information exercise.
When Social Media Bites β½οΈ - When struggling Premier League team Notts Forest tweeted it got more attention than usual and the manager called it out and suggested it was being handled internally. Social media has been a false economy for years searching for likes and comments, in a world where social media has replaced sports newspapers it is about time sports teams learn to understand their brand and their channels to guide their marketing.
Parler x Ye π€ - Outreach and presence, why Kanye has brought "free speech" platform Parlier (what is crystal clear Ye and co need to know the difference between what hate speech is and what free speech is)
Lastly, drones are all the rage in China, should the Western World embrace for launches?
